About TCCA

What is the Todd County Community Alliance?
The Todd County Community Alliance was first formed in 2008 as the Elkton Community Alliance after a group of concerned citizens and business owners met to discuss what more could be done to promote Elkton and Todd County to facilitate positive growth and development. The group decided to start small and named itself Elkton Community Alliance. The Elkton Community Alliance organized Elkton Bike Night, HarvestFest and other special projects. But, since the goals of the Alliance were always to promote the entire County, in 2011 the new Board of Directors voted to change the name of the group to the Todd County Community Alliance to better reflect this goal.

What is the purpose of the Alliance?
According to the bylaws, the Alliance “is organized to advance and protect the general welfare and prosperity of the Elkton and Todd County, Kentucky areas so that the citizens and business community shall prosper. The purpose of the organization is to promote the area, with particular emphasis on its members, and the business interests of Todd County. This is to be done by the following objectives:

1. Enhancing, advancing, and promoting the well being of commerce, industry, agriculture, education, artistic, historic and civic interests in the area.

2. Undertaking an active leadership role in the community by initiating, coordinating and developing programs and events for the benefit of the community.”

How does the Alliance operate?
The Alliance is a nonprofit corporation officially established in 2009. The Alliance has been designated a 501c4 nonprofit by the Internal Revenue Service. The Alliance operates solely on membership contributions and fundraisers. Each year, the membership elects people from its membership to serve on the Board of Directors. All activities of the Alliance are organized by the Board of Directors and other volunteers. All funds of the Alliance are used to promote the Alliance, our members, Todd County and to organize events and community activities and projects.

What are some of the activities of the Alliance?
The Alliance organizes events such as the Bale Trail, HarvestFest, and  Elkton Bike Night. And, we support and promote other local events like Gurhtore Heritage Days, Trenton Main Street Festival, Elkton-Todd County Park Independence Day Celebration, and Christmas events in Elkton, Guthrie and Trenton. In 2011, we added a new website at www.toddcountyca.org that lists and promotes our members.  In 2014, the Alliance created a new website, ExploreToddCounty.com that includes information about events in Todd County as well as information about other unique places to visit and things to do in Todd County.

How can I get involved in the Alliance?
The first way to be involved is by becoming a member of the Alliance. The Board of Directors holds monthly meetings on the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 pm in Elkton City Hall, 71 Public Square and everyone is invited to attend.

Finally, and maybe the most important, is you can volunteer your time at any of our events or on any project or activity we have planned. We always invite new ideas and suggestions to promote positive growth and development in Todd County! Contact the Todd County Welcome Center at 270-265-7070 for more information about the Alliance and how to become involved or email us at info@toddcountyca.org.
